When I first decided to by this game I did some research. I read all the reveiws and people seem to love this game. So I figured I`d get because of how much I LOVE rpgs. when I got it home and played it for about 4 hours it "was" amazing. Then after about....oh 10-15 hours on the game it really stared to come to me that this game is not that great. The games Highest point is the style. The way everything looks is quite amazing. But sadly its the only thing thats breath taking (in my opinon). After you come down of the "gothic style and clean and crisp looking enviorment "trip, The games shallowness starts to rear its ugly head. Now I know that game play isn`t THAT important in a rpg, but this game doesn`t even try. Sure you`ll get cool looking moves that destroy all the random enemies (where they`re not really needed) but when you really need your best moves on things like bosses, they don`t do sqaut. Almost every boss is emune to about 9/10 of all the stats aliments. So the battle basiclly come down to "attack" "heal" "attack" "heal". I read other reviews and they seem to call that "stratgy", well its not. Some might say "but what about the element weakness enemies have" what about it. Like I said before, When you REALLY NEED to do that, The things aren`t weak to any thing(mostly bosses). Now you might be saying "well thats just the way rpgs are so deal with it!". This I do know but when you read reviews and you people talking about "strategy" you expect some form of that. It really ticked me off when I brought a game that I thougt would require strategy. But when I played it, all I was basically doing was attacking and healing(not strategizing my attacks)
And last but not least, The story. The story had to be the worst story I have ever encountered(since FInal Fantasy X2 ewwww). The only thing it has is a plot "rebuild the world"thats it no twist and turns, no excitement, no nothing. Then to make things worse the ending sucked so much that I found myself crying in absoulout frustration that I WASTED about 40 hours of my life on this thing.
Bottom line DO NOT spend your hard earn (or mabey not so hard earned) cash on this thing if you really wanna see what its like then rent it (Its barely even worth that)if your craven for some shin megami action go play the digital devil saga, skip this one.
