Repetitive with shallow battles.
First of all, the game is very repetitive. Social interactions that everyone loves is nothing but a fancy interface of training your character. You can only do certain number of things in a day. All you have to do is to decide on which skill / arcana to improve, which means choosing a person to hang out with.
The story advances once a month. Sometimes one or two things happen in between, but most of the time nothing happens until full moon. Once a month you'll see different locations, other than that, you'll be grinding randomly created, very repetitive levels of tartarus.
The combat is shallow. It's all about using the element which the enemy is weak against. There is not much strategy involved. Once you know the enemies' weaknesses, you will destroy them in a few turns. You won't even bother arranging your team's tactics. Some regular enemies will cast instant kill spells now and then, which can kill you if you don't have the right persona equipped. Thare is no strategical challenge only grinding. This game requires more grinding than most other JRPGs. Again once a month, you will have a big boss fight, which requires some sort of strategy.
Basically, a very slow paced and repetitive game, You need to go through all 29 days doing similar things over and over again to get to the good stuff.
