Persona 4 is part rpg and part social sim, with some psychologically created demons added for fun.
Game play is like most rpgs, you fight monsters to gain experience and go up in level. Once you reach the end boss you defeat it and this progresses the plot. When your not busy thumping out monsters you have to go to school, which in this game doesn't suck. During your time at school and out in the town you goal is to increase your social links with other characters. This increases you and your teams Persona's powers for combat and provides the most fun in the game. The game follows a day by day progression and you basically have to solve the murders by the end of the year.
Graphics are good but will not blow you away and there are some anime cut scenes from time to time which are ok. The main thing is that the view of the action during all parts of the game is good and clear.
The music and sound effects are really good and the music is especially good. Also some of the dialog is voice acted but for the most part it is not.
The value of this game is huge. I finished the game after 110 hours of game play and I can see myself playing this game again in the future. I think the game was designed for at least 2 play thorough because I only finished about half of the social links.
Game play: 9/10
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9/10
Value: 10/10
Overall: 9/10
To sum things up, this is one of my most favourite games. It is fun almost all the way through. The only thing I was a little bit annoyed about was the combat, sometimes you will need to grind to raise your level to beat the current end boss. Overall this is a great game and well worth the money.
