Pretty crappy compared to Smackdown, yet I'm proud to own this one.
-----------------
Probably the greatest roster of wrestlers in a wrestling game. Over 70 classic icons and future legends too.
WCW commentary is welcomed and is much better than the SD series IMO.
The gameplay is crappy yet playable.
The best LOW game in the series.
The Ultimate Warrior is back in a wrestling game!
Bret Hart tutorials!
Very detailed arenas.
This was Acclaim's last wrestling game.
THE BAD
--------------
Despite the roster being great, it is missing a few noticeable people such as Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley etc. but obviously this couldnt have happened because of WWE.
Gameplay is boring.
Wrestlers dont stay down after moves, so you have to eliminate their whole health bar to keep them down for a pin or submission.
Graphics could be alot better, not a big fan of the cartoony graphics.
Doesn't have the fun factor of Smackdown or No Mercy.
Showdown: Legends Of Wrestling was the final LOW game that Acclaim released before going bust. They had improved the presentation greatly, it gives a great feeling of nostalgia when you load up the game, and the roster is huge and very appealing at first. But this is one of those games that will be destined for your shelf after less than a week playing it. But for some reason, I keep pulling it back out. Because I like playing as some of the greatest legends of the sport of wrestling. Thats the only reason this game keeps haunting me. It is definitely playable for a short while, and it has its long lasting appeal even after you get bored with it. If its in a bargain bin and you were a fan of the 70's, 80's and early 90's wrestling then I'd recommend this for a quick laugh with friends. But for some ultimate fun and replayability, I'd pick up Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain or maybe SVR2006.
