Masterpiece... That eventually ends up in pieces.
Graphics: 9.5
Civilization V boasts some pretty good graphics, especially considering hundreds upon hundreds of units on screen at once.
Sound: 9
The music in the game is really great and also does a very good job of setting the mood for the type of situation you are in.
Gameplay: 5
Honestly if it wasn't for the bugs that plague the game at the moment this would be around a 9. The fact is, that you can only finish about 1/2 the game if you turn off the time limit. These games cannot be reloaded to work and you end up scrapping your hours of gameplay.
Stability: 3
If it isn't one thing it is another with this beta of a game. On occasion even with low GPU/CPU temps, you will experience "tearing" in the graphics. Normally this occurs when someone sends you a message via Steam or something pops up causing Civ 5 to minimize.
Some side notes:
Steam is required to play, even if you buy the boxed version.
Cannot use DLC in multiplayer (if multiplayer worked)
Annoying starting cinematic cannot be skipped without watching a portion of it.
Huge map crashes have been occurring for over a month now and there is no word of this being fixed anytime soon.
The AI doesn't use its units right (sending in range units first to be slaughtered by your melee)
Now that I got that out of the way, I can say this. The reason that I didn't give this game a lower rating is that there is some good things that do work. If you play a game with the turn limit enabled and on a map smaller than "Huge", you should be fine. Until they fix the game though, I would NOT recommend purchasing it yet.
