Civilization is a game where you start in the year 4000 BC as a ruler of a small tribe. Now it is your job through technological advances and military conquest to become the greatest civilization of all time. The game is a turn based strategy game losely based on the Avalon Hill board game of the same name. Graphically the game is certainly not the most advanced game of its time. But the graphics gets the job done. The sounds are also quite ok. But what makes you come back is the amazing gameplay. The game is probably the best example of a game featuring the "one more turn"-gameplay. You'll end up playing into the very early hours to perfect your armies and achieve the next technological advance. And furthermore the manual of the game is quite amazing. I read through most of it several times and it is probably the most interesting history lesson I have ever had.
