If you haven't played Civilization (or Civ II, or Civ III, for that matter), your life is incomplete. Starting as a caveman and building a society into the space age is just cool. The original's graphics show its age, but the gameplay is top notch. Having to micromanage your cities' grain production, tax collection, entertainment, and etc. can consume an enormous amount of your time. Want to go to war with your neighboors? Make a treaty, or inflict espionage on someone? all there. want to clean up pollution, develop the bomb, and build a colonizing space craft? all there. Want to research technologies? Fund massive building projects that will indelably write your name on the history books? Got that too.
If you get a chance to play Civ or its sequels, do so. Its fun, Its addictive, and few games can match the excellence that went into making this game.
