Sid Meier's Pirates!

For a remake, bravo!

Pirates! was widely anticipated and following the Pirates of the Carribean craze, hundreds went out to buy this game. I personally enjoyed the gameplay, but the repetitiveness of battles, and time spend sailing along a boring ocean bring the rating of this game down quite a bit.
The many options you have and places to explore leave this game in the category of a feelancer role playing game, without the full control of the character unless fighting other pirates or battling it on land.
For a modern game, i would expect a lot more from the gameplay, and found the game to be rather simple and easy to get bored with.
For a quick thrill of being a pirate, buy it a enjoy, but don't expect it to become a classic like the famous Civilization. My advice to one thinking about purchasing this game, rent, or buy for $5-$10 on ebay(thats what i did), its not worth the money.
