An incredible game, perfect for anyone looking for a good scare and a great story.

I remember three years ago, when I first played this game. I had never played Silent Hill before, and I was a diehard Resident Evil fan. But when I finally bought a PS2, I needed to check this game out, as survival horror was my favourite type of game. First off, I'd like to note that this game is less survival than Resident Evil, as you get alot of ammo and monsters are fairly easy to pick off (unless you are playing on hard). That being said, this is definetely a game to play for the story and enviroment, as that is what it executes best. If you look past some of the broken gameplay elements, for example the impossible melee fights, or how Maria always gets in the way, you're left with a near-perfect game. I won't spoil the story, but I will state that it can suck you in and bring out emotions that you've never shown before. Yes, it is a very sad story, unlike silent hill 3, but that works for this game. On that note, it is more of a drama/horror storyline. For the camera, that is improved upon the original Resident Evil series, as it follows your character, but still has the angles of a survival horror, if that makes any sense. The graphics are good for its time, but starting to show it's age. Of course, the art direction is incredible, so it still deserves a great mark for it's graphics. As for horror, It will scare you senseless. I had to turn on the lights several times while playing this game, and i'm sure you will to. Also, I will note that you need not play the first game, as this game is a completely different story. Overall, this is an incredible game, perfect for anyone looking for a good scare and a great story. It's the game that turned me from the Resident Evil series to the Silent Hill series, and it may do the same for you. Go get it A.S.A.P!
