This is a game that I feel was rushed and it feels like a new Silent Hill.
The horror itself was actually pretty tame - it doesn't really feel as frightening as the previous games. It was scary at points but on the whole it still is pretty tame at times as well.
The gameplay was basically different from the others - you have a life bar on the top left that tells you how much health you hold and there's a charge meter for your melee weapons such as pipes, bats, clubs and all such other things. Holding the X button to charge it and let go to perform a strong attack. When you fight enemies in Normal and Hard Modes, it can be sometimes frustrating. The combat was okay, I liked the part when you stomped on the enemies - that was fun.
The thing I thought was bad, was the ghosts in the game. These ghosts... you cannot kill them. Once you knock them down, they'll keep coming back up unless you kill them with some kind of sword. Those enemies really annoy me.
I think it also destroyed the Silent Hill's series' monsters. The first half of the game from the subway until the apartment was okay, but the second half was just plain frustrating because every time you are close to running out of health, you find yourself being attacked by ghosts in your apartment.
The annoying part is you have to save your game only in your apartment. Outside of it, you cannot. You have to find a hole to go back to your apartment, which gets annoying at times, especially when you don't have time to get back. In the original three, they didn't do that - you could save anywhere you wanted.
There is only ONE boss in this game. I don't mind Sullivan.
Your new companion, Eileen, who you go with, is a pain, because she will get in the way when you fight enemies. Also, I don't understand why she bleeds so much when she attacks. That makes things harder. The only level I liked was the apartment first time. Did I forget to mention you go back to the same areas in the second half? That makes things repetitive.
The graphics I have to admit are great because the character models look realistic; in cut-scenes the backgrounds look good.
The music is very strange in a good way, which describes what Silent Hill is all about. The only music I did not like was the apartment music second time. The monsters sound evil, just the ghosts sounds annoying.
OVERALL: This game is not bad, but it feels rushed and I think Konami could have done a much better job.
