I've been a fan since the very beginning, played all the games, and this is by far the worst. It attempts to steer the series into a different direction but fails on nearly every level. I've always loved the silent hill games because they were creepy and suspenseful but those elements don't exist in downpour. The frame rate issue gets downright frustrating after the first 10 minutes and exists through the whole game. The story and characters are uninteresting and combat is few and far between (I'm more than halfway through the game and can count on two hands how many creatures I've come across). Environments in older games are bizarre, unsettling, and supernatural whereas in downpour it feels like your just exploring an old abandoned ghost town.
Some reviews on here state that this game is a throwback to the early games and long-time fans will find it enjoyable. Nothing could be further from the truth. This game is not silent hill and is not worth the waste of money nor time.
