I'm sorta letdown.
The game is beautiful to look at. The graphics are amazing, the music is pefect. Atmospheric. Spooky. It still has all the scary out of place noises that have you worrying about what's around every corner. It looks just like every other Silent Hill game which is what we've all come to love so that's a good thing. The controls were a great change from the usual Silent Hill static camera systems.
I have been looking forward to this game for so long. I had very high expectations, maybe that was where I went wrong...
It started great, I even started writing a walkthrough with it. That was until I realized that the game is so perfectly linear, there really is no need for one. You can't get lost, you can't miss anything. The puzzles are so sickeningly simple and obvious that it's almost insulting. To a seasoned Silent Hill player I think this game may prove to be a bit of a let down. To others though that may not be quite so familiar with our favorite town the game may prove to be a good starting point.
The game is good, don't get me wrong! It's fun. Enjoyable, a must have for any Silent Hill fan and to some the difficulty may be perfect. I guess I just really didn't like the linear quality. I didn't like having the puzzles so simple I didn't have to think about them at all. I also think most true Silent Hill fans are going to have the same issues I am having with this game.
Don't ever let this series end. It's awesome, one of the best, this game is no exception. In the world of survival horror Silent Hill can't be beaten. You will enjoy the time you spend there. You will get more scares and thrills than you think a game could give you. All I can say is I wish they had of cranked it up just a bit. Just a little too easy and we're used to getting lost in Silent Hill, that was half the fun. They took that ability away. In the next installment, put it back!!
Go get this game, you'll enjoy it. It will not drive you crazy with difficulty but it's still definately worth the playthrough, Any time spent in Silent Hill is good time. It's an unbeatable way to waste away some hours at the perfect time of year and you won't regret it. Long live Silent Hill, and I'm sure we're all going to be eagerly awaiting our next vacation there.
