It is a lot better than people give it credit for.

Complain, complain, complain. That's what gamers like to do. Now look, people have bashed this game since day one because it isn't as scary as the originals, Pyramid Head is in it (Why is that a complaint? They're just trying to please the fans for God's sake!), and of course the universal "It isn't made by Konami" complaint. Alright, let's take a step back. Let's forget that this is supposed to be a Silent Hill game. Let's say that it takes place somewhere else, has a different title, and gets rid of Pyramid Head. Honestly, I think a lot of people would be kinder to it. This is a small studio, and handling a big project like this is huge for them. The atmosphere is still pretty good, even though jump scares are used to heavily, the combat is much improved, the story is still good, though nowhere near the perfection plateau like Silent Hill 2, and the monster designs are twisted and cool. Sure the graphics aren't great, but they still have good style to them and the environments are cool. I know, I'm going to sound unknowledgeable, but regarding Pyramid Head, a lot of people claim he is James Sunderland's personal demon, but I look at it this way: What if he's part of the town, rather than part of James? Is that so hard to believe? All of the executioners look strangely like Pyramid Head right? So stop complaining about that. Overall, it's still a worthy entry in the series, and hopefully it will convince Konami to pick up the reings once more.
