It's a fun game, but with some bugs and a lacking story.

User Rating: 7 | Silent Hill: Origins PS2
Silent Hill Origins is not a bad game. First of all it has the elements to be a good Silent Hill game: puzzles, the classic map that marks what you have done, the classic jammed doors, strange monsters, town exploring, fun to read files everywhere that back the story in a great way etc.
It has all of this, but I think that it needs a lot of polish in the story telling, when I finished the game I was like, ok…whats next?, I wanted to know more about Travis parents, about the cult (I know that it is well explained in 3, but this game is called origins, I was expecting much more to be explained) and maybe some random mention somewhere of Sunderland or Sullivan (ok, I know it is not well known when SH2 took place in the SH series timeline, because it is a story apart of the Alessa focused games).
Also I wanted to know what about that butcher, I think it's a really cool character but it doesn't have any backing story like Pyramid Head.
I was intrigued with the notes and letters from Travis father but I think there was much more to be explored and a more developed story is what I would have liked to see.
The other thing I was a little disappointed is gameplay. So ok, they tried to make it the best possible for the psp, but in the ps2 we have more buttons and a second analog stick, so they didn't even try to review the controllers for the ps2, it was a port of the psp button configuration, which, for a ps2 game, is really limited. Also, I felt the analog stick configuration a little tricky, it wasn't the classic up = forward down= back , left and right =rotating, so it was a pain in the ass getting used to it.
A good addition is the melee attack and the mirrors to travel from the normal to the other world.
So to conclude, I think you should give this game a try, it has a lot flaws and it doesn't innovate that much, for a psp game is great but for a console game it actually falls short.
