This is not Silent Hill......

I don't care what the title says this isn't a Silent Hill game, re-imagined or otherwise. It's an interesting story, don't get me wrong but they shouldn't have based it on the Silent Hill franchise.

Gone are the foggy streets and the monsters with them. Gone are the cults and their old gods. What's left is an empty shell.

Forget what you knew of the old Silent Hill. The characters might have the same names but they have nothing to do with the old storyline. This new concept deviates greatly from its predecessors. I believe the only reason they gave it a Silent Hill title was because they wanted to sell a few copies.

You are a man called Harry Mason who searches for his missing daughter. You wander around this snowy town called Silent Hill in search of her. As you explore you discover clues along the way which are activated through your cell phone. When you uncover a clue your cell phone will ring and give you a message which is a snipet of the story line. There is really nothing challenging about this game. The clues are not hard to find and locked doors are easy to open.

There is a creepy atmosphere, enduced by the lack of people in town, except for the ones you meet. The monsters are weak and are an annoyance rather than scary. You have to outrun them through a maze of blue doors to find your way to the end. This marks the end of a chapter.
They are all the same and were probably thrown in to make the game seem longer than it already is.

The therapy sessions were more entertaining than the rest of the game. You are given various tests to complete which will determine your phsychological assessment and also the way in which you perceive the game. For example if you are determined to be sex crazed officer Bennet will wear a low cut shirt. Little changes like that.

The appearance of the game is nothing special. It looks like an old school ps2 game. The only annoyance was the grainy effect at the top and bottom of the screen. It jumps throughout the game to give it the appearance of an old VHS cassette. I wish you had an option of turning that off since it was a little distracting.

There really isn't any replay value unless you want to get all the various endings, or you could just you tube them like I did. :)

I would recommend renting this game since it is so short unless you want it for your collection.
