How can Shattered Memories
* I played the first Silent Hill for the PsOne in 10 years ago( 2000) and I loved it from many reasons, like: Original story, horror atmosphere, dark sounds and what I loved the most, I felt that 'Fear' grows in me.
*SIlent Hill: Shattered memories is a game available for the: PSP, PS2 and Nintendo WII.
This review is for the PSP( played with a PSP GO) but in general the story is the same like the PS2 or the WII, just the controls and camera are different in the other versions.
*Like the producer said, Shattered Memories is a remake of the first SIlent Hill, well I totaly agree but the story is different from the first SIlent Hill Launched in 1999, so u get the same characters but another story.
In Shattered Memories, Harry Mason and hes daughter Cherryl are involved in a car crash accident as they came to SIlent Hill.
When Harry wakes up Cherryl is gone and he desperately does everything to find her.
*The intro of the story is the same as the original, but as u go further through the game everything goes on another road.
I won't say anothing about the first part of the game....with the doctor because I will just spoil the whole game.
Sound:
* The sound in this game or the soundtrack is not that amazing like in the other SIlent Hill games but it still deserves a 10.
Akira Yamaoka did a great job on all Silent Hill games, and in Shattered Memories the atmosphere is made by the sound too.
* The voice acting of the actors is better than ever, it's clearly that Konami worked hard for this.
Graphics:
* Like I said in the begining, I played this game for the PSP so I will tell my opinion for the PSP console( PSP GO).
The graphics are nice and u don't have a feeling u play a handheld game, u can comapare them to the WII or PS2, because they look the same.
Playing on the PSP go, the LCD is smaller and it looks more crisp.
* The framerate is amazing too, I don't know about the UMD drive that sometimes lags, but directly from the 16 GB storage it runs smooth.
Still there is a con too, the flashlight ruins everything...I mean it's so 'WHITE' and sometimes it slows ur game down.
* You will see that when you turn off the flashlight the graphics are awesome and everything will look better.
10 for the graphics.
Controls and camera:
* The controls and camera in Shattered Memories are very easy to play.
Moving from the analog and zooming from R...the rest is cake.
My opinion it's easy because you don't have to aim and shot.
* Camera never made me mad, because it was perfect, every move I made the camera fixed in a good position.
Controls are not a problem, if all games had controls like this, I would be happy.
A big 10 for the controls.
Gameplay:
* The gameplay in Shattered Memories is different from the other games.
In this game you never have to shoot because this game doesn't have any guns or something like that, you just need to run.
As you go through the story you will see that this is split in two parts:
1) normal world: where you just have to explore, do puzzles and collecting mementos, to go forward in the game.
2) alternate world( where the ice dominates the place): in this world you need to make your way back from where you came, but it's not that simple, because monsters will chase you and yes, you have to run.
No guns in this game, just run and avoid the monsters.
The backtracking is different here, you have to take new paths that sometimes are screwing with you and make you run in circles, but you have your GPS with a map, it can help you go back.
It's well balanced, because you can relax in the normal world and then run like hell on the alternate.
The game takes breaks where u land in a psychiatry cabinet with doctor K.
* Everytime the game takes you here, you have to do some choices that will affect your gameplay and endings.
I won't go deeper and I avoid explaining more about the psychiatry cabinet, because there are spoilers and if you play the game, you will understand me.
* So in the end, the gameplay is very simple and fun to play.
I really enjoyed the whole game and the gameplay deserves a big 10 for it's orginality that no game had till now.
* Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a game that needs to be played.
It had original factors and a story that will bow your mind depending on your choices.
* This is a psychological game, something that you don't see in the game industry, so expect the best and a story that can't be explained, just played.
Final Score: 10!
