If you played the original Silent Hill, run away from this game.

How can you manage to take an incredible history (from Silent Hill) and turn that ultra dark, creepy, unsettling tale into an adolescent delusion destroying EVERYTHING Silent Hill was? Climax Studios did just that!

The only explanation is that they wanted to do a Wii Silent Hill so the original satanic history of the town and the way they burn alive the innocent Alessa has to be "adapted to the family friendly console" and then, you have... This!

To be fair, if you have NEVER played the original Silent Hill, this game could be somewhat good (if you don't compare it with some gems like Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill 3). Now to be COMPLETELY HONEST, this game doesn't deserve to be called Silent Hill at all... This could be a very competent survival in it's own merit. To call it Silent Hill you secure sales, true, but you also secure comparisons... Bad ones.

In the original game you KNEW there is NO SECURE PLACES. in any moment, in any place, you could face something horrible and lethal. Not is this one. You have very defined "secure moments" and "Silent Hill moments" (called "nightmares". When you are in a "secure moment" THERE IS NO WAY something could make you any harm and when you are in a "nightmare" you only have to RUN TO A PLACE (marked automatically on your map) to escape the monsters and end the "nightmare". Rinse and repeat until the game ends.

So... If you have played ANY Silent Hill before, do yourself a favor and skip this. Not for the gameplay (that I've found to be good) but because it destroys completely one of the BEST horror stories of all: Silent Hill for PS One.
