Silent Hill: 6 out of 10

User Rating: 6 | Silent Hill PS
Graphics: Silent Hills graphics are not all that great. Compared to the Resident Evil 2, which came out around the same time as this game, the graphics are blocky and lackluster. The game is very dark and poorly rendered fog blocks out anything in the distance. However, The graphics do little to bring the game down. It's still pretty scarry. 1 out of 2 for Graphics.

Sound: The sound in this game is difficult to judge. It's nothing special but the game does offer one of the most annoying sounds, EVER! At anytime a monsters gets near you the radio your character carries around starts to buzz with static. it's a helpful and original idea but at the same time is very annoying. 1 out of 2 for Sound.

Gameplay: Silent Hill uses practically the same engine as the Resident Evil games. Push forward to move forward and push left and right to spin. Hold R2 to attack. The game also offers alot of puzzles to solve. but in the end there is not much original material offered. 1 out of 2 for Gameplay.

Storyline: The story is where Silent Hill really shines. After a car crash you wake up on the turn off to the city of Silent Hill and to make a bad situation worse your daughter is missing. After exploring a little bit you discover that the town is empty and some pretty weird **** starts to go down. The game offers several different endings as well. 2 out of 2 for Storyline.

Misc.: Not much offered in side quests here but the game does have several different endings which gives it some replayablity. 1 out of 2 for Misc.

Overall: Unlike Resident Evil, Silent Hill does not use a pop out-and-scare method to get your heart racing. It's more gore and pyscological stuff. It's not a GREAT game but diffently worth while. 6 out of 10 for Silent Hill.
