not a bad port, rare game for the NES

User Rating: 8.2 | Silent Service NES
This type of game was a rare thing for the NES in the day. A sub simulator? That actually tried at being a real simulator? A port of sorts of a PC game, Silent Service was very unique. Although not the easiest to play, it was deffinately worth a look for those interested. Even two players could have a go if you let one person control the periscope and the other the sub. You had the ability to do everything from track ships, lauch torpedoes, dive, surface quickly (blow all tanks!), send an oil slick to fool the persuing destroyers, run surface attacks, await damage/repairs to be fixed...it was a fairly in depth simulation for the system. The graphics were pretty good for the time on the NES as well. Overall it was a fun game and worth a look for those looking for a unique NES experience that may not have been had by many.
