Fun, but lacking, sim game...

User Rating: 6.3 | Theme Park World PS
Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty basic. You manage a theme park and your goal is to make it thrive with rides to dazzle your guests. Probably the most appealing aspect of the game is the design your own ride aspect which lets you design your own roller coaster tracks which is interesting, but even in itself could use a bit of work.

Graphics: The graphics are ok, but nothing special and look like they belong on the PC more than the playstation in my opinion. Also, I did notice a few "choppy" parts here and there and I think the people's faces could have looked better.

Problems: The problems I found with this game were the repetitiveness of the rides, whereas many of them seem to be far too similar and lack diversity. Also, there aren't too many themes to choose from to build your parks and this can get tiring fast, much like the rides themeselves. A bug I encountered a bit was being told repeateady to "place drink stands" for my guests because they were thirsty. I continued to place nothing but drink stands once as a test and watched guests use them, and I still was told I didn't have enough drink stands. This happened quite a few times and was quite annoying.

Sound: The sound is pretty basic. Nothing too special here, but not bad either. Nice theme park sounds but they could be a bit more crisp in my opinion.

Bottomline: This isn't a bad sim game, and can provide a bit of entertainment at first however, that entertainment is most likely to be had by a younger audience. More experienced game players and older gamers will probably much more enjoy a more immersive, and simply put a much more fun, sim type game, and with a good amount of those out there (such as Roller Coaster Tycoon or The Sims Series) there's not much this game can offer to set it aside.
