This game is an old timer's classic, and if I must say, is a guilty pleasure. One would find it hard to believe that I can stil play this game, 15 years after its release over such Super Nintendo classics like Zelda III, Super Mario World, and Street Fighter II. The game has spawned a Sim franchise, and I find myself really missing a Sim City title for our current systems. Can't say I'm in a rush to buy the family Sim game. Yeah, this game is old but I can't forget to metion I still can enjoy the Sim City game with its graphical and sound shortcomings compared to the systems of today. The gameplay if pretty simple but it can be frustrating when you have a need for residential zones and no one moves in. Ach, hate that! Another flaw in this game is your attempt to build a Megapolis and you can't build cool stuff like a bank, library, an Expo, a fountain, and parks to make your city look more spiffy like in the other levels. In these other levels you can start a city from scratch or take over a scenerio and another real world city like Detroit or Rio when things are going well. Then as the mayor, you have to try and help the city out of its funk. There are codes that you can figure out to get a staggering high income so you can build whatever you want without worrying about money issues. Sim City is definatly one of those games that makes you feel like a sort of deity. You control everything that goes on and even create a natural or accidental disaster to make things interesting. I don't know if the most casual gamer would enjoy this, but if you got 5 bucks and nothing to do, go give this one the ole' college try.
