The best skating oriented game ever made!

User Rating: 8.5 | Skate 2 PS3
I myself have never been a fan of skating games or even skating what so ever, but this game changed my whole opinion on both subjects. Many compare it to the Tony Hawk's series, which is quite wrong, but it is to some extent revolutionary within the genre and has much more improved gameplay and graphics when compared to Tony Hawk

Single Player:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game starts with a funny and entertaining introduction before you make your character. He or she can wear anything from top to bottom. You can also upload your own graphics to the game and then put it on t-shirts and caps. The game is set in New San Vanelona, a regular California-city, where you find many challenges and ways to earn money. The purpose of the game is becoming the biggest skater of NSV through the streets, to the sponsors and up the top of the chain in a X-Games based contest. It's an openworld-ended game and has a lot to offer even after you've finished it. There are spots to set a record for and many other challenges that are left over after the story ends so that you can still get something to play on it after you've finished it.

Multiplayer:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fortunately Skate 2 leaves much to the online part of the game as well. You can choose between different modes, including best trick, S.K.A.T.E, death race and hall of meat among others. You collect experience points through every game, even if you turn first or sixth (six is the biggest amount of players fit into an online game) you'll get some points for being able to atleast finish the challenge. If you're already sold, you won't believe that the game has a freeskate mode to. It works both on singleplayer and multiplayer and can also be played with up to six players. Freeskate is based on being able to skate on big parts of the actual in-game map which also offers different challenges to turn to when you want something to do. Sadly, the multiplayer has some points where it glitches, but not as much as it would bother you.

Graphics and gameplay:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you look at Skate 2, you wouldn't really think it was made for your eye only. The graphics are great and the image never lags. Some rocks and grass does not look or feel natural, but you never really notice since you'll spend most of your time on skating ramps or the centrum. The gameplay is, as mentioned by many other reviewers, revolutionary to skating. It is unbelievable that some people even dare comparing it with Tony Hawk, as nothing is alike, meaning Skate 2 is a much better game.

Extras:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In singleplayer you earn rewards by getting new sponsors and beating Hall of Meat challenges. In addition you'll have multiplayer badges that you earn by collecting experience points. If that wasn't enough, the game has trophies that'll take your time until finished. So about 50 hours of gameplay altogether.

Skate 2 is a definite purchase, even if you don't like skating. It is one of EA's top titles and even it's kind of thin story and few glitchy online games to blame for not buying it.
