Skate, The true sequel to thrasher: skate and destroy

User Rating: 9.5 | Skate X360
This game is a true step forward in skateboarding games. I can remember when i first played Tony Hawk 1 and i thought man one day there could be something crazy realistic, then i played thrasher: skate and destroy on the ps1 and i thought that was the closest i would ever get. Well i am very happy to say that i was completely wrong. Who knew, of all devs or publishers that EA who pumps out rehash after rehash on their sports titles or whatever and is known for just throwing out more of the same would be the ones who completely change the way we play a skate game. EA has apparently has some really imaginative people who see a lot more than we do in those analog sticks. They did it with fight night and it was amazing, they moved it to hockey and its hard to go back well they did it to skateboarding and i must say i can't go back to anything else.

Controls- the controls feel fantastic, you move your body with the left stick your legs with the right, left trigger=left hand right trigger=right hand. This game you actually have to learn to play and get really good at using the analog sticks for your tricks so since you are starting at the bottom it almost feels like you are learning to skateboard. I about lost my mind when you figured out that for transitions in bowls or half pipes or just to get more speed on banks that you actually have to control your skater and make him pump which is amazing they thought of that.

Graphics- Is there anything above awesome? The skaters are beautifully animated and the camera view is the perfect spot. Now i will admit the camera view is amazing and frustrating at first all in the same time but once you get used to it you will love it. The camera view is just like you see in skateboard videos its as if someone is following you shooting a video fish eye and all its a really good effect because when you are that low to the ground it makes it so you can judge height a lot better and just makes everything come together. Sound- You know in a skateboarding game if i ollie or do a trick and get some air, and i can still hear the wheels spinning really fast just like when i do stuff on my actual skateboard, then the sound was nailed. You can hear the cracks in cement on your wheels the crack of the tail of your board when you do a trick. Now let me explain when you actually skateboard and you know what you are doing boards and wheels make certain sounds, other skateboarding games have tried to imitate that but none have ever come close to it like EA Skate. Voice acting is pretty good too its not really stupid or anything it actually works well.

This game is nothing short of amazing, i have been skateboarding for many years learned numerous tricks and its nice to see a skateboarding game match the feel of skateboarding. You don't just go to some area set up for skateboarding and just have at it for a while you cruise around town and find areas that you think oh holy crap i could do this on it! Thats actual skateboarding and this game is great.

Now Just with any game this has a few little issues which is why i couldn't give it a perfect score, sometimes the physics go wacky since wall riding is in the game so every once and a while something crazy will happen, and the other thing is this game would benefit so much from a skate park creator. Tony hawk had it and since everything was so crazy with that game i didn't think it really needed it, but with this game it really needs one.
