A game with ships and pirates. That all? Not even close. An amazing game that gives an indescribable feeling.

The days of the Sega Dreamcast were good ones. There were instant classics and let downs at the same time. But this system gave us some of the best RPG's that can never be beaten. Such is the case with Skies of Arcadia. The game is flat out amazing. You start the game in great pirate style by boarding a ship to take their loot. Nice huh? Your main hero, Vyse, is an aspiring young air pirate wanting to see the world. He's just never gotten his chance. That changes the day he meets a mysterious girl. Hey, I never said this game didn't have RPG cliches. Vyse and his childhood friend, Aika, decide to help this girl on her mission that she was sent to Arcadia to accomplish. And that's how the story starts. The battle system is turned based of course with a SP bar at the top of the screen. SP being Spirit Energy. With enough SP, the characters can pull off their S. Skills. This is figured out right from the start in the first boss fight. It's almost necessary to activate these skills to beat the thing. But the battle system is easy to figure out and use to your advantage. That doesn't mean all the battles in this game are easy though. They prove to be pretty challenging. The ship battles are what make the game different though. And the ship battles are extremely fun and challenging sometimes. You still use SP except this time you expend it to use torpedos, guns, and cannons on the ship. Definitely innovative. The battle system is simple to figure out but still great.
This game is full of surprises. One of the few games that actually makes me feel like I'm on an adventure. There's so much to explore. You can find discoveries hidden across the world and even get gold for it. The world is so massive and extremely complimented by the music in the game. The music is superb. There aren't too many negatives about this game other than random battles that can become annoying early on. But that is remedied when you get the ability to fly above the clouds in your ship.
In short, this game will leave you with a feelings unlike any other. You'll get immersed in the world of Arcadia and never want to leave. The game will really lift your spirits and and leave you feelings inspired. I recommend this game to any RPG fan or upcoming fan of RPG's. Lots of stuff to do in the game but not too hard either. Great game for all seasons. Get lost in the skies of Arcadia.
