Played it & beat it recently on the SNES console itself. Solid side-scroller with nice graphics.

User Rating: 7.5 | Skyblazer SNES
Gameplay: Skyblazer is an old SNES side-scroller from a relatively underachieving (at the time) game maker - Sony. Most of their other SNES games pretty much suck, but Skyblazer is actually worth a minute of your time if you have interest in retro video gaming (it's my obsession). Anyhoo - It's a pretty basic game and your character is a ninja type dude that runs, jumps, sticks to walls, punches, and casts magic spells. Skyblazer has a little bit of an "ancient Chinese" atmosphere. Levels are fun to play through and range from outdoor, dark, rainy nights; to scaling up the side of a spinning tower; to inside a flaming temple with lava waves beneath you. You will encounter several bosses along the way and enemies include wizards, samurai, mythical creatures, and the like. Various sizes and colors of gems are available along the way to help replenish your character's HP and magic. Some magic spells are more powerful and use up most of your meter, other spells use just a little bit up at a time. 8.0.

Graphics: Very polished graphics for the SNES, good sized character sprite, various textures and environments, good use of color, and character design is enjoyable as well. The strong point of this title for sure. 9.0.

Audio: Thinking back, I want to say the sound quality in Skyblazer was mediocre. I mainly recall the title song being upbeat, Asian sounding music that was a little bit intense and annoying. But during gameplay it wasn't quite as abrasive. 6.5.

Difficulty: It's a pretty easy game. If you were locked-in, zoning-out on Skyblazer, you could probably beat the game in about 3 or 4 hours. There's maybe 1 or 2 levels towards the end in which you will die a few times. Jumping up the outside of the spinning tower is challenging, but an experienced gamer would not find it to be hard. To me the difficulty (being on the easy side) did not take away from the overall quality of the game.

Pros: Beautiful graphics for a forgotten old SNES cart.

Cons: Mediocre sound meets basic (albeit solid) gameplay.

Overall: If you like Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden types of games, you will almost assuredly enjoy Skyblazer. Check your bargain bin. It's worth about $9 - $10 online for the cartridge itself, which any real gamer would choose over a ROM. 7.5.
