New Features Make This A Solid Addition to the Series.

User Rating: 9.1 | Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves PS2
The game is a must have for fans of the series, but don't expect it to be like the others in the series.
The first Sly Cooper game was the first PS2 game that I actually finished 100%. I have played all three of the series now, and have noticed many distinct differences.
First, this game is more difficult. It is not impossible, but it does present slightly more challenge than the first two games.
The main part of the challenge comes from the huge list of playable characters. Instead of just playing as Sly, with a few Murray and Bently segments, this title requires players to play as multiple characters. There are also a variety of gadgets and vehicles that players must use and pilot. Most of the vehicles have different control schemes, which require players to learn on the fly. This makes much of the game seem like a series of min-games, rather than a platformer. Still, the constant change of pace and controls keeps gameplay fresh and fans of the series will be excited to play as Dimitri and Panda King.
The cell shaded graphics still look great, and this game is visually on par or superior to the other two Sly games. The controls for all characters are rock solid and highly responsive.
The voice acting however isn't as good. One of the things I enjoyed the most about the first two games was the solid plot and professional quality script readings. Fans of the series will notice that some of the characters (Dimitri and Carmelita) sound like new actors doing a bad impression of the original voice. If you haven't played the first two, then you won't be bothered by the difference.
The game does feature many creative new twists that are impressive even to people who don't enjoy them. 3-D levels are revolutionary, and the fact that the game lets you choose if you want to view them in 3-d or not is brilliant. If you don't want to look like an idiot in your living room with red and blue glasses on, you don't have to. However, the more curious among us are willing to give it a try.
This is not my favorite of the series, but I have to give Suckerpunch credit for pushing the envelope and delivering a quality gaming experience. This is a fun game that can be enjoyed by gamers of all ages. With lots of quality content and gameplay, this game is a good purchase for any platformer fan, and definitely worth a rental to others.
