Cartoony and a little goofy, but fun and enjoyable.

User Rating: 7.1 | Sly Raccoon PS2
Sly Cooper and the Thievus Raccoonus is a bit off-beat. The game boast cell shaded visuals that look incredible and decent game-play to keep platform fans entertained, but the game is still missing something. Oh, I know what it is--length. This game is short.

The game has mostly challenging puzzles, but nothing too taxing. The voice-over work is skillfully done. Basically, this game is not a great game, but it's nowhere near garbage. It will have to suffice when I say that it is only for tried and true platform gamers. Most gamers can easily pass this by and not miss anything. It's not that the game is forgettable, but it's not an over-the-top game of epic proportions. Put it this way, it's no Ratchet & Clank. Now, it's unfair to judge this game based on other games in the genre. They do offer some original gameplay mechanics. However, with other great games in the platforming genre, this game could've stepped up it's "game." The game does have nice cartoony elements, including sound and visuals. So gamers will get the impression that they're playing a cartoon instead of a game. That is neither a good or a bad thing. It is what it is.

Rent it or buy it, either way you should enjoy it.
