Small Soldiers is a movie-based game. It has an excellent campaign, and a fun, yet unbalanced multiplayer mode. Small Soldiers, however, does not follow the plot from the movie. The plot of the video game is that Gorgon is under attack from the Commando Elite. You play as Archer, emissary of the Gorgonites, and it is your job to defend Gorgon at all cost. The game has a fun arsenal of enemies and weapons. You can also fight side by side with other gorgonites (CPU). A lot of the battle scenarios are clever enough to make you think first, and shoot second.
The only bad thing about this game is that you cannot play as the Commandos. You can only play as Chip Hazard as player 2 in the multiplayer modes. The multiplayer modes are a bit unbalanced in the sense that who ever gets the "good" weapon first wins. Regardless, it is still very fun to play multiplayer with a friend. The multiplayer modes allow for two players. Sadly, the is no cooperative gameplay.
In conlusion, this is a very underrated game that should at least be rented.
