User Rating: 9.5 | Smuggler's Run: Warzones GC
Rockstar games has done it again. Smugglers run is pure, unmitigated fun.

The premise of the game is simple enough. You are a smuggler, and your job is to pick up packages from point A, and take them to point B. This pretty much leaves everything up to the gameplay to decide whether or not this game satisfies. And the gameplay is excellent.

You start the game as a new smuggler, with just a dune buggy style vehicle. As you progress through missions, you amass a large collection of vehicles that you can use, such as an ATV, large SUV's, and even larger track-wheeled vehicles. All in all, I'd say the ATV is the most versatile, as well as the most fun, vehicle to use. Each has their advantage, however.

Many of the missions involve just you versus enemy gangs and police/military. Your vehicle can only take so much damage, so you have to drive defensively, while trying to outrun several other vehicles. The greatest parts of the game are the team-based levels, where your gang is competing with a rival gang to pick up and transport a set number of contraband packages. This plays out like an all terrain vehicle football match, and it's incredibly fun. Depending on the vehicles you select as teammates, they'll either play offense by running packages, they'll play defense by smashing enemies, or they'll defend by guarding you & the drop off point.

Needless to say, the gameplay scores a 10 from me. The visuals and sounds are pretty good, especially if you consider how fast and active the gameplay is. There are several cheesy cut-scenes, but they end up being pretty entertaining. They tried to incorporate a storyline in the game. It's all right, nothing spectacular, but this isn't a game that you play for the story.

This game is a great game with pick up & play ability. But it also has staying power to keep you occupied for hours at a time.
