Socom 2: A break through off a game

User Rating: 8.1 | SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs PS2
Socom 2 was something I forst thought of as absurd because I am in the army and this was the navy. That prejudice was soon put to rest when I tried the game out of my own accord. What a discovery and turn around it was for me. The Gameplay and innovation in this one makes it stand out the most. First the singleplayer mode is lengthy and adequate. The AI isnt the best but it gets the job done. The controls rarley let you down but at time can have a couple of hicups. The variation in the stages is good from urban to jungle from desert to cold weather its here. While the stages are good in viraiety they also are limited to where you can go. When you head too far one way youll get a warning to go back which is good but dawdle too long and your game will end. I think it should just redirect you on its own because these stages are sometimes to long to start over and with no in stage save feature this could prove very frustrating. The graphics are perhaps the weakest link here. Although they are not terrible some gamers will demand more. Clipping and draw in and fog are all issues here. The design of the characters could have been better as most of the are just paint and swap. The animation is often choppy and sometimes leads you to believe that some people have weapons in their hands when in fact they do not. This area is a so so. The music is appropriate for the action but does not always kick in when youd like them to. The beats pulse and keep you going but lack in some areas where motivation is needed to drive on. The innovation shows through as the head phone set is put to good use. When in a good room your fellow seal follow every command with vigor and some accuracy. Also the online gaming in this one is nothing short of addictive. You can compete in various missions and communicate effectively with your team mates. Sometime though you will run into the unruly gamer who just wishes to cause trouble. There is also a bit of glitching going on as some gamers some how hide in buildings and input commands to make them hard to kill. Over all though it is still an experience I would love to be apart of. Unlike madden or espn football where all people do is talk smack and quit. This game is great and with a couple of more improvements will be excellent in the future endevors. PEACE OUT!!!
