Very, very strong multiplayer.

If you buy one game for multiplayer online action on the PS2, this is the one to get. Socom II is by far the best online game for the PS2 ever. The online setup is the best, clans, friends lists, stats. Which most other online games for the PS2 lack. In the game it is the SEALS vs. the Terrorists in diffrent multiplayer modes depending on what map you are playing. Some maps will be a rescue mission where the Seals will try to rescue the hostages. Others will be a bomb map that is kind of played out like counter-strike. Exept the bomb is up for grabs and any team can take it and destroy the enemies targets. The game is fast paced, and if you are not paying attention, you are dead. And when you are dead, your dead, no coming back until the next round. So it is kind of like counter-strike. The graphics are pretty good, but the framerate drops from time to time, making it a little difficult to play at times. Detailed enviroments and very realistic settings give the game a little realism. The online is smooth and almost lag free, but there is pleanty of lag to go around, and to frusrate you. There are some balance issues with weapons, the Seals have all the good guns, and the Terrorists are left with crap. The key of the game is teamwork, and with most online games teamwork is almost non existant. Even when you can talk to people with the microphones people dont listen. I've seen very good players get killed becase they do not have any backup. I have not played much of the singleplayer, but it is very well put together and is nice because the more you play and win the more you unlock for the online. Over all the game is very, very, good. A must have if you have a broudband connection and your PS2 is online. Oh and dont forget the microphone, it is almost a necesity.
