Superb online play

This is a great squad-based tactical shooter for the PS2. The offline single player missions are pretty nice, and take you to different places around the globe like Brazil, Algeria...etc. You can even use the PS2 USB headset for offline play and issue commands to your squad. The read meat of this game is when you bring your skills online. Never have I ever played an online shooter where I get so immersed in the game. If there's any of you out there who think that the headset won't increase game experience...you're so wrong. The headset is a must for this game. There's never any slow down during online play and the graphics/animations are really nice. The authentic sounds of the bullest whizzing by you and machine gun fire sound extremly realistic. All in all, if you're a fan of the squad-based shooter genre, and are willing to let go of the pathetic ghost recon series, then give Socom II a try...you'll love it!
