The Game's not bad but when it strays from it's own original formula, and rips off other games, it feels like a waste.

Socom 2. This game is the Sequal to socom 1 which was probably the most influential games in console gaming history. The USB Headset made the game feel more interactive than any other game before it, and it worked well. It's own formula for a shooter was odd, however. 1-2 shots killed a person, so stealth was key. The maps were pretty damn good too. Abandoned and Frostfire were the 2 main maps to come out of socom 1. The game's music was excellent, and the general warnings of "terrorists are winning/seals are winning" made the game it's own. That was Socom 1... Socom 2 tried to revoutionize the game, but did so in all the wrong ways. Instead of stealth, everyone now has a life meter, and new guns greatly imbalance the gameplay. Rocket launchers are too powerfull in some spots, and landmines make the game almost impossible to bear. "Glitching" or Zipper's way of saying "We can't program a goddamn map", make the game almost laughable to play. People shooting at you from inside barrels makes the game just not fun. The word "kill" has been changed to "frag" (Cough cough ripoff). Gun turrets were added, but are useless. Hostage rescue maps involve no rescuing whatsoever, and bomb defusing is.... too strange to play. It is as though anyone can plant a bomb, but the terrorists must stop the seals? The whole world of socom was changed, but not for the better. It's become more of a deathmatch game, with rediculously long rounds. Socom 1, at least, relied on stealth and accuracy. At least Zipper decided to throw respawn into socom 2. It makes the repetitous, and frustrating gameplay more playable.
