User Rating: 9.1 | SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs PS2
SOCOM II is a good game, and is a great experience for online gamers. It has many pros, but sadly, many cons. The new game modes are very fun, and a great addition. The additional ways to kill enemies (airstrikes, C4, rockets, grenade launchers, etc.) are great, but have some flaws. Many times, a rocket will hit very near a person, but the person will not get hurt; their screen will simply shake. New accessories in the game are wonderful additions-thermal scope (although it limits your view, it is a good thing, for otherwise a thermal scope would be to good) and optional or mandatory C4. The best comment I have to say for SOCOM II is how well effective DNAS has been so far. After a patch (revision 0002) a hole in DNAS was fixed, as were many glitches. There are still those mind-less morons who are insufferable to others' sense of fun, and have found more glitches to exploit, in an either accidental or purposeful way to undermine the game and the hard work of Sony and Zipper. The ranking system is another problem. It can be easily cheated, so it no longer has a purpose. It takes up server work, and really isn't needed. Pros and cons aside, for the broadband-enabled gamer, SOCOM II is the most appealing and addicting shooter on the PS2 market.
