Another Socom game, another laggy experience
Let's start with the obvious, unlike other Socom games, this one has a story that its not really inspiring, you will find yourself just skipping the long briefings you get to jump right into the action, but even the game is not very excited, with enemies disappearing once you kill them, and dumb AI that at times will bug the fu** out of you, and others make you realized that soldiers like Gamespot said "did not pass training". The gameplay is solid, with different guns and different attachments that you can put in them to make you look like the terminator, but in the end you will end up putting a scope and a silencer in the gun so you can just snipe all your enemies without having to go through a lot of trouble. The graphics of the game are cool if you are playing in a HD TV, even for a PS2 game, it looks pretty cool, but if you have that old school TV, with the cables the PS2 came, you will find it rather difficult to see your enemies from a distance, since the game manages to blend the soldiers to the environments when they are not actually wearing a sort of camouflage. Overall, this game deserves an 8.5, but this is perhaps the best 8.5 ever.
Online
This is perhaps the only game that has more than 20+ maps (I don't actually remember the exact amount) , they are all pretty cool, you can play in a whole lot of ways, differrent game modes and a whole lot more, no one could complain about the maps in the game, and some of the classic maps from previous games are back. The only trouble I had in my online experience was that most of the matches suffer from frame rate, sometimes serious frame rate, like 1 out of 15 matches was lag free or frame drop free, and it was a match that probably had like 10 people only. This is where the game gets hurt a lot, laggy players everywhere, you can't even hit them in close combat, frame rate dropping, and sometimes you shoot a guy in the head, and he will die 10 minutes later when the round ends. Overall the online experience deserves and 8, but like I did it in the campaign, this is the best 8 ever. Is definitely worth checking out, but if you are new to the series, prepare yourself for some serious disappointment from a game that is suppose to have, the best series in a console.
