Christmas morning. It's 9 in the morning. I wake up to the very loud conversation between my brother and my dad. I say good morning and merry christmas still half asleep as I grab some of the presents with my dad and go to the living room to open them. I get a new cell phone, a gift card to best buy and SOCOM: Combined Assault. I play with my phone for a while then decide to go play SOCOM. I pop in the disc and start on the first mission. I move around the snow-covered hills and spot an enemy. I quietly get a little closer to get a better shot. I shoot and kill the enemy. I start getting intyo it. I remember and use what I've learned in training to my advantage and take down the enemy with ease. " This is pretty cool", I tell myself. As I keep taking down enemies, it hits me, and hard might I add...I'm doing all the work. My "team" is not helping me at all. Why are they even here if they're not of any use?
This is the most disturbing and frustrating part of this game. The AI in your team is absolutely horrible. You would actually do better without them. Most of the time they get in the way. The only time this is useful is when the enemy's shooting at you and you can use your "team" as a human shield. The game features new vehicles, weapons and an all new 4-player online co-op mode. There's really surprising here. The levels are built very good and moving around is very easy. If you're under heavy fire, it's very easy to find cover, which is going to be very useful when playing this. The thing that frustrated me is that when the enemy is shooting at you, your team rarely fires back. They just stare at the enemy and point their guns at them. The graphics aren't the best, but that doesn't matter. The storyline makes up for what the gameplay and graphics are missing. The music is probably the best part of the game. The music really gets you pumped up to play but that's it. This game is just for fans of the SOCOM series, but if you're looking for something new to play, keep looking. This game is a letdown. This game could've been better if more time was put into it.
