For all of you FTB veterans, Slant 6's FTB3 just isn't the same as Zipper's FTB1 & 2, which we all know and love.

User Rating: 6.5 | SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 PSP
Good: new weapons, new features like grenade indicators and regeneration health (optional on-line), 4 player online co-op, smart enemy AI, new maps are surprisingly good, checkpoints incorporated into campaign (unlike FTB2)

Bad: less player customization (way less outfits compared to FTB2's line up, and they are pretty much garbage compared to FTB2's), less-than-attractive menus and game lobbies, awkward controls (i.e. must stop walking every time you wish to talk on mic, etc.), grenade throwing system is more realistic, yet hard to maneuver, short campaign with little/no depth in the storyline and plot, lock-on system is similar to FTB1 (FTB2 has a better lock-on system IMO), ranking/stats display is awkwardly structured

I mainly listed some basic good and bad things about FTB3. However, I was mostly comparing it to FTB2. I am an FTB2 veteran; I have played it just about non-stop since it came out years ago. I've had hundreds of clan wars and I, along with a couple hundred other people, were the only veterans left playing the game before FTB3 was released. So this review is for all you die-hard FTB2 OG's. I, along with all my FTB2 veterans, were expecting a lot from FTB3. No one really enjoyed Socom: Tactical Strike's game-play style. However, once we heard another FTB was coming out, we really looked forward to it. Unfortunately, it seems that Zipper is still the only developer that can bring out the true FTB in the FTB series. Slant 6 tried hard, but FTB3 came out more like Modern Warfare 2 than a true FTB 1 or 2 that we all know and love (Modern Warfare is great, just not when you are expecting a true Socom game on the PSP). The game is not half bad. For anyone new to the Socom series, they will most likely enjoy it. However, for those of you much like me who fell in love with FTB 1 and 2 and played it everyday for hours and hours...FTB3 just doesn't cut it. It's not the same and you just don't "feel" like you are playing a true Socom FTB game. Like I said, for those of you new to the series, try it out. You will most likely enjoy it. But for those of you much like me, I would rent it first or not buy it at all. Hopefully Zipper will create a FTB4.
