Taking the Seals with you on the go, plus all the online action too. This is the best shooter so far for the PSP.

I was really second thinking getting this game as first, just looking at the others shooters on the system I thought Socom wouldn't be done right, but to my surprise it's great and worth a purchase by anyone with a PSP.

The action in this game focus on a team of two Seals instead of the usually 4 on the console version, but it plays the same. All the usually commands are there just tap the O button to bring up the command interface. Also holding it while looking at doors or bomb usually bring up a quick command option, ie breach, disarm, plant charge.

Before you start a mission you have a standard mission briefing as well as a chance to select your weapons for you and your teammate ( there's a huge selection, but I miss the standard hand guns). There are also add on for weapons like suppressors, grenade launchers, scopes (both short and long range)., aswell as claymores, grenades, flash bombs, rocket launcher, and more you pick whatever you want but they also have a recommended setup to.

The Mission range from stealth to kill em all (hit and run), and there's a nice balance to them. Mission have main, secondary, and bonus objectives some even unlock features in Socom 3 (PS2). There are some in Socom 3 that unlock feature in Fire Team Bravo (PSP). Mission usually have both indoor and outdoor enviroment that are full of detail and different pathway depending on how you approch objectives. For the most part your teammate wont open fire unless he needs to or you order him to, but if the need arises you can just give him the fire at will command (really helpful in some missions).

The controls are easy to get use to, it may take you one or two missions to get use to them. Once you do you'll notice the controls for the game fit the system and use the button layout to the fullest. There are option to adjust the analog nub to your liking, as well as invert the aiming. They let you set the speed of the look feature and the dead zone for the nub( the amount of pressure used before your character move), it's important to find a good balance.

So if you're into stealth you can use the free look (right on the d-pad) to look around or use the scope (if your weapon has one) for long range shots (press up on d-pad to zoom in and down to zoom out, your movement is limited), you can also stealth kill at close range with a knife if unseen or gun butt with the rifle for a close combat kill( just tap the squire button). If stealth isn't your thing there's a smart lock on system (using R shoulder button) to lock onto targets, note it will loose the lock if the target more behind buildings or takes cover. You have a great amount of freedom to control the action to your liking.

Socom is the standard that should be used for all future shooters on the PSP (like Halo is the standard for Xbox), yeah Socom is a 3rd person shooter but you have the option to play the game in 1st person view. The sound effect are very well done, and the graphic are good. Also the cross talk feature, which lets you tranfer data to/from the PSP to the PS2 is a welcome addition. Oh and Multi-player is pure fun, if you played Socom on the PS2 then you know how good it is(especially if you have the headset), the PSP has both ad-hoc and online modes.

If you are a fan of Socom on the PS2 or just a fan of shooter in general (FPS or 3rd person), and you have a PSP then you should get Socom: Fire Team Bravo it's a must buy!
