Fun but a bit boring...

User Rating: 8 | Sonic Advance GBA
I was really looking forward to this game. It looked so fun and entertaining. Yeah, I was a bit sad about SEGA's transition from first party to third (I seriously wish the Dreamcast didn't get discontinued) but at least this looked old school. I got it and I liked it for a couple of months. But during that time period... it got a bit boring. It just felt like it was missing something... not speed it just felt... Graphics: Very nice for a GBA game. I still prefer the Mega Drive/Genesis' graphics. Gameplay: There is a couple of classic speed you can get with this game... but it can get really slow. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles are really fun to use. Amy is the exact opposite. Well, she CAN be fun but playing as her is so frustrating. Let's start off with the blue blur... Sonic the Hedgehog. In my opinion, he was the most fun to use. He has the most speed (Speed is the best thing about Sonic IMO) and his attacks are really useful. He feels well designed just like the Genesis games.... Then comes Miles "Tails" Prower The Fox... another fun character. He runs fast (not as fast as Sonic) and his flying techniques make things less frustrating. It feels awesome. Just plain cool. Knuckles: Well designed but has problems. He may be fast but his gliding and climbing technique kind of pisses me off. He climbs but when he gets to THE DAMN FREAKING TOP, he slows down. When he glides and gets to the ground... he slows down for a couple of seconds. C'mon. Where's the speed?! And I don't like the fact that he can only punch at a standstill. Sonic Adventure had this (I think punch while jumping) but it was a lot more fun and SA2, you could dash punch. Why not here? Amy Rose: Worst character of the game. She can be fast but her jumping skills are absolutely useless. You jump and press another button to spin. This may take some time to get used to. I'm really used to jumping by spinning completely instead of jumping and then press a buttion to spin. He hammer attacks are a bit useless too. Well, for combat. Well, this game offers a delicious stash of challenge. The bosses are very fun. Sound- The music is nice. Some tracks sound a bit weird though... Value- Moderately High. But there is something this game is missing. I just can't figure it out. Too hard to explain unfortunately. So Sonic Advance is a great game for classic Sonic fans but this can get boring. But this is an overall GREEAAAAAT game.
