Sonic Adventure 2 makes an addicting platformer... but did this game have the power to keep the dream alive?

User Rating: 9.5 | Sonic Adventure 2 DC
Now the Dreamcast is discontinued... but still stands tall in gamers heart. Sonic made his final Dreamcast adventure... with a sequel to Sonic Adventure. But did this spiritual sequel have the power to keep the dream alive (I'm talking about the dreamcast).

Spoiler below!

Now once again Eggman does his evil tricks and once again he has a little friend. First was Chaos.... now a mysterious black hedgehog, Shadow, the resembling hedgehog to Sonic. Don't mistake him for Sonic... cuz he ain't! Now Eggman has attacked the miltary and awakens Shadow. After witnessing it's true power, Shadow tells Eggman to meet him at Space Colony Ark, the lost shut downed colony, with more Chaos Emeralds.(Eggman is Shadow's creator's grandson!) Sonic, our hero, is mistaken for commiting a crime he didn't do. Sonic rolls in a city, and escapes. After a battle with a giant robot.... Shadow is seen on top of the defeated robot, grasping a Chaos Emerald in his hands. Sonic starts not knowing whats going on but realizes the resemblence (he and Shadow) and then finds out Shadow framed him. Shadow escapes with Chaos Control and Sonic left, arrested. Later, Eggman arrives at the colony and Shadow tells him about the Eclipse Cannon, that can destroy a planet with a single blast but it would need the & Chaos Emeralds to do so. Suddenly a mysterious bat arrives, confronting Shadow and Eggman. Rouge offers to join the party... and convinces with the Chaos Emerald she showed off. Now the three: Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge begin their plan for world destruction. But Sonic wasen't defeated yet. Sonic the Hedgehog escapes prison island and finds Shadow again. After a battle, the bomb that was set on the island was about to explode. They escape. Now Sonic must stop the planet from exploding. Now the race to save or destroy the planet begins. But Sonic isn't alone.... he has Tails and Knuckles on his side. And what's with this Rouge character? Is she really on their side? And what is Shadow's real motive?

Nice Story.

Pros: Sequel, Improved Graphics, 2 player mode, nice story, nice music, 2 new characters, Sonic/Shadow are speedy action filled characters with their Speed Full levels, Tails/Eggman blast a load in their Shooting Full levels, alot of fun levels, Improved A-life system, Best Sonic voice acting.

Cons: Knuckles/Rouge levels are so-so, Some levels time limited levels are hard (Security Hall was hard!), Storyline is as captivating as the original (I mean it didn't give me the feeling when I played the original), Some songs are so-so or suck, some annoying boss fights, and the game is not as good as the original, some annoying levels.

Now I got this game for X-Mas... and the game rocked.... but it wasen't as good as the original. Of course the graphics have improved alot snd character don't just stand when you don't move them. Now one of things that got me intrested was the multiplayer. I mean to me it was dang fun.

Sonic and Shadow footracing to the end with special attacks to serve the other player's ass. Tails and Eggman blasting each other with special attacks that would blow the other player's ass up, and Knuckles and Rouge could treasure hunt with special attacks that would slow the others player's ass from getting the master emerald pieces.

Then there's the music. Now it was ood but some tracks sucked. Sonic and Tails were so-so, Knuckles' song could get annoying (but it was a good song but was a little cheesy), Rouge's was.... never minded it. Eggman's was crappy! Amy's sucked! Shadow's was okay. And this game has cheesy tracks. Like you'll hear "I'm gonna follow my rainbow"! which was cheesy.... follow me in a CRAPPY SONG! Knuckles' levels had annoying rap songs (The Meteor hard was the only one I enjoyed). Rap is good (my fav type of music) but in Sonic Adventure 2 they get annoying. I mean STOP Acting gangster! Game has 2 new characters: Shadow and Rouge. Now the most of the levels were fun but Knuckles/Rouge's were so-so. They can get boring! Sonic/Shadow and Tails/ Eggman were fun but I would say Tails/Eggman levels were not as good as Gamma's levels in Sonic Adventure. Tails/Eggman levels were okay but can get a little dull. Sonic/Shadow levels to me were the best ones. Now this has an improved A-Life system (which meant improved Chao Porn: Disgusting). We could race our Chaos or pit them up against each other and watch them fight.

Now the Boss fights.... were good but some were annoying. King Boom Boo was annoying as hell! You had to dash behind him but then he would turn around, you would have go the other, he turns around, and you have to do this again, again, again, again, and AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND A----- it was an annoying boss. I mean King Boom Boo isn't hard but it takes so much time to destroy him! Sonic vs. Shadow or Shadow vs. Sonic was a little tricky but wasen't hard.

The game has some annoying levels which are hard.

Now the game isn't as good as the original. I mean I didn't get the same feeling when I played original when I played this game! Storyline isn't as captivating as the original ( I mean not as good as the original). Sonic Adventure is better than Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

But the game ain't bad.

Sonic Adventure 2 is fun and addicting. This is must-have for the Dreamcast (despite the dreamcast was discontinued).

(Chao Porn: Disqusting)

And if you're wondering why in my review for Sonic Adventure I said the Learning Curve for the game was 100 or more hours is because of Big's levels! The rest are 0 to 30 minutes.... actually for Sonic games I learn to play quickly (execpt Big's levels. SA1 and Sonic Riders are still fun).
