Before 1991 SEGA has struggled with sales due to the Super Nintendo hogging up all of the attention. SEGA wanted to make a video game mascot for them to match Mario. They thought of a star named Ristar as a mascot, but it didn't do so well. That's where Sonic Team came in. They first released Flicky, where a small nlue bird would have to rescue his friends, but they wanted something similiar ot Mario, but faster...a LOT faster. They argued either the mascot should be a hedgehog ro an armadillo (this is where Mighty would've came), and we all know what they decided to use, right? Sonc The Hedgehog is what made SEGA stay in sales. SEGA then came out with the SEGA dreamcast, along with a game to come along with it, Sonic Advneture...

Sonic Adventure is one of the games that people bought the Dreamcast for when it was released. This was actually Sonic's first platform debut. Sonic Adventure was similiar to the classic Sonic games with the same cast of character an some new ones, same objects and ability's, and the most important thing of all...Speed.

The story begins as Sonic was jumping around building to building in Station Square until he noticed police cars driving at high speed. Sonic went down to check it out and found a strange looking water-like creater. Sonic fought the water guy and the water creater escape into the sewers. We also notice an old familiar face on one of the roofs of the buildings. Yep, Dr. Robotnik is back!

The gameplay is excellent with each playable character having their own set of moves and different objectives in order to accomplish different tasks. Sonic with his high speed gameplay which hlpes him rescue his animal pals or get a Chaos Emerald. Tails with his racing stages where he has to race Sonic to an emerald. And of course, everyone's favourite, Knuckles, who has interesting treasure hunting missions to return them to the Master Emerald. And the other characters also have different, unique styled gameplay.

The graphics are very pro. Definitly better graphics then you'd see on the Nintendo 64 or the PlayStation. Each level has different envirenments with mist and stuff floating in the air. The characters themselves are also ratcher "shiny" in certain stages.

Sonic Adventure also has awsome music. Something most people would like in a video game is to have a lot of music with lyrics. Each character you play as have a different tune, Sonic's "live & learn" to Amy's "My sweet Passion." Each stage having their own song and no problem with loud, annoyign sounds, Sonic Adventure definitly gets a ten for its music performance.

Another interesting thing about this title is the interesting cut-scenes that each character has. You can play as any character and find out their story and how they play a role in Sonic Adventure. You can even find out more about the strange liquid creater stirring about the citys and jungles. And the game is split up into two different kinds of gameplay. Adventure Fields where you can interact with non-playable characters and explore the lands. And action stages where you have a goal to get to.

If you have a Dreamcast then you can go wrong with Sonic Adventure. If you're more of an old-school Sonic fan and dislike the newer Sonic games like Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic Heroes, then Sonic Adventure will STILL suit you. Sonic Adventure is very respectful to the older Sonic titles and has similiar gameplay but in 3-D.
