The Best Kart Racer on the PS3 and from SEGA
I found that I loved racing to some of my favorite songs such as "Super Sonic Racing" from Sonic, "What U Need" from Sonic Rush, and other songs from games I hadnt played. Each song fit in well with racing online and offline (online with support for up to 8 racers), lol.
Racing consists of the traditional aspects from the genre, carts (including planes, and bikes), and boosts/weapons to target and hit opponents, and drifting mechanisms to edge out in times. The modes are pretty standard for the genre as well, with battle, time trials, single racing, and grand prix. There is a shop to buy additional stages, music, and characters as well.
There is local support for up to 4 players via split screen and 2 to 8 players in the online mode (1 player per console). Online PSN play allows racers from every country. There are trophies (including about 2 or 3 online trophies).
Characters retain their voices that were present in their last games and such and there is a narrator that brings life to the game. Graphically it is really vibrant and fun, the music is pretty excellent too, and the menu theme is pretty rocking too. All in all this is one of those games that I suggest SEGA and racer fans get as it is probably the closest thing to experiencing a Mario Kart on a non Nintendo console in this day and age when art racers are a drop too few.
The faults are as usual the character selection and musical selection though its nothing to not get the game on.
Definitely check the game out and enjoy it.
