Sonic and the Black Knight is a short-lived adventure that is hard to have fun with.

User Rating: 3 | Sonic and the Black Knight WII
You know, I was one of the people who actually enjoyed the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed. After playing Unleashed, I was itching for a new Sonic game. I saw at my local game store that you could pre-order this new game titled Sonic and the Black Knight. It was a no brainer, I pre ordered the game. Three months later, I picked up the game only to figure out it was a total joke. The blue hedgehog should have never, ever picked up a sword.
The game starts with a, pretty decent cut scene that shows this wizard of sorts running away from this shadowy warrior. She stabs her staff into the ground and summons Sonic, who was apparently on a date with Amy Rose. Sonic then escapes with the wizard only to learn that he was transported to the land of King Arthur, who was turned evil. Sonic then goes on a short quest to save King Arthurs land from, well, King Arthur. I won't explain the whole story, but compared to the rest of the game, it is a pretty decent story.
Here is the awful part, the control. You use the nun-chuck to move Sonic forward and backward, since you can barely move to the left and right. You swing the Wii remote to swing your sword, who talks and is dreadfully annoying. That's all that there is to it. It makes me wonder why you can't move left and right in a 3D game. Sword combat is repetitive and can make your arm tired. It was fun for the first level, and then it got really boring.
T he graphics were so-so and the music was ok. I don't have much to say about the overall art style. All of it was mediocre.
I gave Sonic a 3.0 not because of its story, because it was pretty good, but the repetitive game play and mediocre art style. The big reason that made me decide on such a low rating was its horrible price tag and its 6-7 hours of game play. This game should be worth $5, not $50. And because those 6 hours are so boring and repetitive, and because there is no replay value, this is not a game I would suggest to anyone. Even die-hard Sonic fans.
