Great Visuals, memorable music, good plot and questionable gameplay await Sonic in the 2nd part of the Storybook series

User Rating: 7 | Sonic and the Black Knight WII
With a simple yet interesting storyline, a brilliant musical score, and a hard to get accustomed gameplay. Sonic Leaps into the realm of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table where he is forced to adapt to a new fighting style as he learns the ways of the sword.

Gameplay: With the Wii remote's motion sensing capabilities it's rather practical to abuse it's features in order to enhance the gameplay experience, but alas, it worked rather poorly in Sonic's defense. Though the sense of speed remained intact like many Sonic titles before it, but this speed may be hindered due to constantly swinging the remote to burst through hordes of enemies (though exiting and sometimes breathtaking) it may become overly repetitive to some and this will sometimes cause a strain on your wrist. (Note: I didn't overexert my swinging of the remote) and the feeling that you were mostly on a on-rails type of gameplay made it feel too straight-forward and might be considered bad by many gamers standards on the Sonic the hedgehog games. the boss fights were one of the highlights of the game, but lacked good instructional timing when hard-pressed to use Wii Remote's Reaction command system to break through a sword clash or repel enemy attacks.

Gameplay: 4.5/10

Story Summary: Sonic is summoned to the realm of King Arthur by Merlina (Merlin's granddaughter) Where King Arthur has succumbed to the power of Excalibur's scabbard, Which grants it's bearer eternal life. Sonic must Travel the Realm of King Arthur (while being pursued by the Knights of the Round Table) in order to become a knight and find the means to defeat King Arthur and bring peace back to the kingdom.

Simple enough story to pick up from the get go but for those who seek more info on the subject can later check out the character Bios and the unlockable content which explains in more detail the story behind the game. Both the Identification and the Blacksmith Features added some Medieval twists to the game, but not as well as the overall artwork in the game which gave you a pretty good feeling that you weren't in Kansas anymore.

Story: 8/10

Sound: The feel of the game was greatly improved thanks to the great work put into the games musical score, unlocking and being able to re-listen this songs on the gallery is time well spent in order to appreciate the great work put into the making of the many well arranged songs in the game.

Sound: 8.5/10

Overall: Sonic and the Black knight has an interesting plot with a medieval twist, some great music to backup the beautiful visuals in king Arthur's Realm, and a gameplay styIe not very appealing to most core Sonic Fans. A trip to the rental store is all it takes since the game is fairly easy to beat and it shouldn't take you more than a couple hours to get a good view of the game for yourself.

Overall: 7/10
