This was one of the few truly great games offered for the Sega CD system. Right from the opening movie, you knew you had something special. In terms of controlling Sonic, nothing had really changed, but it still felt so much more real with CD-quality sound and brighter, crisper graphics than any cartridge could provide. The "fix the past to save the future" time travel gimmick worked quite well, creating a past, present, and future for each level, each often with their own secrets. I had my Sega CD hooked up to my stereo, and the only knock I have is that they made the sound effect for warping through time at least twice as loud as any other sound in the game. You had to quick turn the volume down or be blown away. Overall, possibly the best of the games for this system!
