Gameplay: The game is basically a racing game. 7 Sonic characters from the Game Gear games appear in Sonic Drift 2 as drivers. Each driver has different attacks and speed. You race through 3 different cups, Purple, Blue, and White. There are 6 tracks in each cup. Your goal to to get in 1st place in all of the tracks. After racing through these tracks, there's not much else to do other then do Time Attack or VS mode. The game itself it pretty fun, but it lacks in replay value. Graphics: Choppy 3D-like graphics is the most you can get from the Game Gear. The game feels like a 1986 game or something. Its not bad for a Game Gear game, but its also not great for a Game Gear game. So basically, the graphics are simple, and kinda choppy. Sound: The songs are real short, and only last a few seconds and then they loop again. What's disapointing about it is that some of the songs are actually pretty catchy. The sound effects are mostly reused from the first Sonic Drift, and other Sonic games on the Game Gear. Conclusion: The Game Gear was seen to the public as a complete Game Boy rip-off. In a few ways, it isn't, and in other ways, it is. If you're looking for good games on the Game Gear, Sonic Drift 2 will do. Keep in mind that many games on the Game Gear are not top quallity like the Genesis games. So Sonic Drift 2 is one of the few games that does a soild job for the Game Gear. Though you won't find too much replay value in Sonic Dirft 2, its a pretty addictive Game Gear game in both action and driving terms.
