A Sonic game with good games, bad games, and ugly games.
Sonic CD is the main game of this collection. Released for the Sega CD and PC in 1993, this game is considered to be the best game in the franchise and the best game for the unpopular Sega CD. In the opening animated cutscene, Sonic runs up into one of Eggman's ships (which is supposed to be Eggman's new planet). So Sonic must rescue Amy and shut down the planet. To shut down the planet, he must battle against Eggman and Sonic's alter-ego Metal Sonic. The port to the Gamecube is really well done. The music is great, the gameplay is still awesome (I like the past and future switches in the game), and the graphics still look great like it was back in 1993. Sonic the Fighters is another major game in this collection. Sonic the Fighters is a fighting game that was only released in Japanese arcades back in 1996. This is the first time this got released in America. From playing it, it's just like any other fighter. Some of the characters have their special abilities, but it's like any other fighter. Also when you go and fight Metal Sonic, you have to try really hard because Metal Sonic is almost impossible to beat. It took me 3 hours to beat him. if you are able to beat him you are awarded with the credits. The multiplayer is also good, but it's nohing different from other fighters.
Sonic R is a Sonic themed racer trhat was released for the Sega Saturn and the PC in 1996. This game is in 3D. you have 5 characters to race, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles run in the race while Eggman and Amy use vehicles. You have 4 tracks to race on with some unlockables. One problem with this game is the controls. They are realy broken and irresponsive. That's a problem when you're going really fast. You will crash often. Another problem is that the music is terrible. With some of the most cheesy music I have ever heard. If you want to play this, put it on mute.
Now we reach to the Game Gear games. And I have to say, they are really bad in qualtiy. Sinic Triple Threat and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are ok. They control well, but the games are very lenient. Tails Adventure is also ok, but it's too slow for a Sonic game. Tails Skypatrol is way too boring for me. It doesn't look like a Sonic game at all. Sonic Drift 2 and Sonic Spinball are the worst of them all. Sonic Spinball is just a lazy pport of the Genesis version, and Sonic Drift 2 is just a lazy racer. Also all the Game Gear games are poorly ported onto this game. So avoid these games.
Then we have the unlockables. There are twon of them and they are both Vectorman games. Both of them are good. Worth playing. The only problem is that we get Vectorman while Japan gets Streets of RAge. We want Streets of Rage too. Overall this collection has some good games, but not enough good games for it to be a purchase. Rent the game for Sonic CD. When you're done, send it back.
