I got this game back in 2004 at Target for the Nintendo Gamecube. Now, back in 2003... I was looking really forward to this game. It started off being totally awesome... but as time passed and would get a little bit more lame. However... it's pretty good. So, Sonic fans... you will love this (especially hardcore fans. Like me). Others... this would be a good rental. Here's the review: Graphics- They look pretty great for it's time. 2005's Shadow the Hedgehog's used very similar graphics but it looked outdated. So, this looked very great for it's time. The GC's one has the best graphics out of the 3 versions. The level designs look good. A little cartoony too. The visuals look quite impressive but look at times simple. Great graphics for it's time. There are 4 teams: Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, and Team Chaotix. Gameplay- Well... it has many elements from the Sonic Adventure series. The homing attack. It adds something new... this team play thing. You get to control 3 characters at once. There a 3 groups: Speed (my favorite) is the fastest group. You can do homing attack and a pretty lame spin dash compared to the Sonic Adventure series (I'm not sure if it is a spin dash). Sonic is Team Sonic's speed person, Shadow is the speed guy in Team Dark, Amy is the speed person in team Rose (? She is not supposed to be fast... but who cares), Espio is the speed for Chaotix. Power is the strongest group. You can punch (or bite in Team Chaotix's case) and do explosions. Team Sonic's: Knuckles, Team Dark's Omega, Team Rose: Big, Team Chaotix's: Vector. Flight, in my opinion, is the lamest group of the three. You go slow. You can fly. Tails is Team Sonic's flight person, Rouge is Team Dark's flight, Cream (and Cheese) is Team Rose' flight person, and Charmy the Bee is Team Chaotix's flight person. Okay, I had quite a problem with this. Okay, I love the speed in Sonic games and when you're about to go fast you have to switch to Flight or Power. This continues on and on. You can add a lot of stuff Sega and Sonic Team... just don't mess up the speed. The controls are pretty easy for me. Speed is my favorite because Sonic games are very well known for their speed, and a Sonic game needs speed. I still love the homing attacks. Their level ups aren't so different. Team Sonic is my fav team. Power is pretty fun and power types go pretty fast, punching was pretty fun. Flight was kinda lame. It went super slow, flight type attacks are lame. Power Type characters have the best level ups in my opinion. My opinion on the teams: Team Sonic is good team to start with for people who have played previous Sonic games. Team Sonic is the medium team to me. Team Dark is the hardest team, it has the most enemies, and longer levels. Team Dark is a great team to start with if you have BEAT previous Sonic Adventure games (not just story mode, EVERYTHING). Team Rose is a great team to start with if you are new to the Sonic series. It carries the easiest difficulty. Team Chaotix is a great team to start with if you are really great at collecting stuff in the Sonic series (like treasure hunting). Team Sonic is the best to me, Team Dark is the second best to me, Team Chaotix is the third best team to me, Team Rose is the 4th (and last) best team to me. The bosses are fun but kinda hard. The enemies have health bars... and they can be annoying at times. You attack with your team when doing homing attack, and if you can hit the enemy when they're already dead and sometimes lead to your death. Speaking of deaths, they are bottomless pits that can lead to your doom! The bosses are fun but are hard too. Challenging I guess. The Robot Storm bosses (and the other boss fight that was like that) can get a little boring as it can take forever to complete. The multiplayer is decent at best. It's fun if you have family or friends to play with when doing multiplayer (like me). Now, they brought those cursed hard special stages! Now, they're glitchy. You need to get all 7 Chaos Emeralds to get the last story. And beat all teams. But it would be easier and cooler to JUST beat all teams to get the last story. I beat all teams execpt for Team Dark and I got no Chaos Emeralds. I sucked at the Emerald Challenges. I was stuck at the Lost Jungle level for Team Dark before my copy of this game stopped working. The gameplay is great... but could've been better. Sound- Well, most of the level music are decent. Most of the theme songs are lame (Team Dark's and "What I'm made of" were good. The rest were decent or horrible to begin with). But the voice acting,however, is perfect. Tails' is the only decent voice. The voice acting isn't 4kids (and as you guys know, 4kids is SOOO racist and ruins our anime. 4kids is horrible, OKAY?). Ryan Drummond rocked as Sonic (I think it's the best voice in the Sonic series), Scott Dreier was gangster as Knuckles, Tails was decent (William Corkery made Tails sounded like he had a cold. Half better and half worse than Corey Bringas), Amy's voice was good (think it was Jennifer Doulli-- dunno how to spell her last name), Shadow's was awesome (David Humphrey did great!), Espio sounded cool (Marc Biagi was cool), Charmy sounded like a kid (which is a good thing, Emily Corkery was great), Vector sounded tough (Bill Corkery did great), Cream sounded, well annoying but I liked it because it made Cream sound like a cute little girl (Sarah Wulfeck is great when making child voices), Rouge sounded great and sexy (not as sexy her new voice... which IS a good thing. Rouge's new voice is terrible! Sounds TOO sexy, sounds like a hooker now), Omega's voice is great (I forgot his old voice's name), the rest of the voice acting is great! And Eggman's voice... is legendary (Deem Bristow, Rest in Peace. You are the Eggman. You rock). The sound is great! It gets a 8. OVERALL- So... this game does not live up to the hype but is very fun. It can be frustrating. But it is very fun overall. Hardcore, Casual, or new Sonic fans will eat this like a delicious slice of Chocolate Cake and tasty Double Chocolate Cookies. Others should rent or pass. 8.2 (according to the rating while making this review).
Sonic Heoroes is the fastest 3D Sonic game of all time. It has really good variety in it's stages and you can play any team in any stage. Team Rose is suitable for younger players, Team Chaotix has odd types of mission... Read Full Review
