Decent try at a good game
What gets me the most is the fact that there are 4 teams, and 3 of those team's levels are completly the same apart from the difficulty, I mean why don't you just play the game 3 times over with team sonic and once with team chaotix, who's missions get just a little tedious some times. Some parts of the game leave you saying "Oh god, not another level" and some of the game leaves you feeling like Sonic heroes is a great game.
Although some of the game hasn't been great, the CG is beautifullly done and the songs are good fun just to sit there and listen to as Jun Senoue returns in the sound department. The lack of bosses didn't really feel like Sonic, but some of the speed sensations are good. The level system is good idea and team blasts are impressive but the triangle jump needs some work done as alot of the time it left me falling to my doom, and the last boss isn't terribly hard, its nothing compared to perfect chaos or the final hazard. And most of all, the camera is really annoying in this game as it goes into 1st person which doesn't help.
As for the gameplay, it can be great fun most of the time with team sonic, dark and rose but team chaotix just can't seem to keep up with the rest of the teams, it's nice to see the chaotix team again but they need some help.
Fighting the other teams was a nice idea and battling your way through hundreds of robots in robot fighting levels are a blast. The multiplayer leaves alot to be disired and once the last boss is done, nobody could be bothered to get expert mode as it is just a harder version (as if geting all A rank isn't hard enough). The Xbox and Gamecube versions were good but the playstaion version made you wanna get an axe to that game as switching members was a grueling task.
In summary, the game is a good try and sonic fans and adventrue game fans will be pleased (as long as the don't have the playstaion version).
