User Rating: 9.5 | Sonic Mega Collection GC
Sonic Mega Collection is a collection of Sonic games from the Sega Genesis. You start off with the 7 games and later on you unlock 5 games with a total of 12 games. The games you start out with are Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball, and Dr. Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine. The 5 unlockables are Blue Sphere, Flicky, Sonic 2 with Knuckles, Sonic 3 with Knuckles, and Ristar. Sonic the Hedgehog was the first Sonic game for the Sega genesis released in 1991. This game is still fun today. you must stop Dr. robotnick (Eggman) from turning the animals into robots. To stop hoim you must collect the seven Chaos Emeralds. You go through these maps and you're going very fast that it makes the game more fun. Jumping on enemies while going really fast made this game great back in 1991. It's still great today.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the second Sonic game also released for the Genesis in 1992. Robotnick is at it again and Sonic must stop him by collectimg the emeralds again. This time he is not alone. This was the first Sonic game that introduced Tails (Miles Prower), the two-tailed fox. It's still very fun to this day. With the introduction to multiplayer makes this game more fun. lus the 3D bonus mode makes this game more fun. Still worth nplaying today. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the third (actually the 5th) game released for the Genesis in 1994. Robotnick is at it again, but this time he has the emeralds. But Then this Enchinda named Knuckles comes in and takes them away from you. So now you have to collect them again. In this adventure they introduced saving. So in this game when you die, you can return from the world you last left off instead of starting the game all over again. This adds to less frustration to the Sonic series now that you don't have to worry about dying as much. Still a fun game to play.

Sonic and Knuckles continue the Sonic series. It was released for the Genesis in 1994. In this game you can now play as Knuckles. You can use his climbing abilities and flying abilities to complete this game. You can still play as Sonic though. Still fun.

Sonic 3D Blast is the first Sonic game to introduce 3D (not 3D gameplay but 3D Graphics). It was released for the Genesis and Saturn in 1996 (This is the Genesis version). This time Sonic goes to Flicky Island where Dr. Robotnick has captured the Flickies and turned them into robots. Now Sonic has to destroy all the robots and rescue all the flickies. It's not as fun asd the other four but it's still fun to play.

Sonic Spinball is Sonic and Pinball put together. It's a spinoff for the Genesis released in 1993. You play as Sonic trying to get the Chaos Emeralds in these pinball stages. It's pretty fun to play. It does get repetative, but it's fun to play for a little while.

Dr. robotnick's Mean Bean Machine is the last game that is already unlocked in this collection. It was released on the Genesis in 1993. This is from Robotnick's side where you have to defeat robots in puzzle matches. If you ever played Puzzle fighter you know what this game is about. you have to get as many matches as you can so taht you can take down your opponent. It gets repetative at times. If you want a battle puzzle game play Puzle Fighter. It's still fun. The rest of the games you have to unlock. Some of the games are not really that fun. Blue Sphere is the Bonus mopdes in Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. It's fun for a little while but it gets boring. Flicky is a spinoff to Sonic 3D Blast. you play as a Flicky trying to save these birds from cats. The idea looks boring but it's kind of fun. Sonic 2 and 3 with Knuckles is self explanatory.

But the crown jewel out of all the unlockables, after you layed all the games to a certain amount, is Ristar. Released in 1995 before Sega focused on only the Saturn. This game is about a universe that is in need of help. All the planets are getting invaded. The only person that can help them is a star named Ristar. You go to all of these planets and take care of all the evil that the planet is infected with. This game is very fun. With innovative gameplay for the time. This game didn't do so well in sales because peoiple were too focused on the Saturn that everyone forgot about this game. This was a lost treasure for the Genesis.

Overal this collection of Sonic games is good. All of the games are fun and really enjoyable. you get a couple of extras like looking at the cutscenes from Sonic CD, look at Sonic's history, look at fanart, and look at the comics made by Archie, this is a collector's delight. I highly recommend it.
